Introduction to Equipment

This is a 40 minute one-on-one session designed to gently introduce puppies (and dogs of all ages) to the platforms, surfaces, and specialty tools used in canine conditioning and rehabilitation.

For many dogs, unfamiliar footing can feel uncertain at first. This session is designed to make those experiences predictable, positive, and confidence building. Because it is a private appointment, your dog can explore at their own pace without the added pressure of a group environment.

During the session, your dog may be introduced to:

  • Low platforms and step work

  • A variety of footing textures such as rubber, foam, and textured surfaces

  • Stable and mildly dynamic balance equipment

  • Novel environmental elements commonly used in conditioning and rehab

This is not a fitness workout or an advanced conditioning class. It is a foundational exposure session focused on building comfort, understanding, and body awareness.

While this is designed to be a stand-alone session, it may be booked multiple times at the owner’s discretion to gradually build confidence and familiarity with equipment. Some dogs benefit from repeated exposure as they mature, particularly puppies and more cautious individuals.

What We Prioritize

  • Confidence building

  • Proprioception and coordination

  • Calm problem solving

  • Positive associations with equipment

  • Safe and thoughtful introduction techniques

Each exercise is adjusted to suit your dog’s age, experience, and comfort level. We reward curiosity, support bravery, and create successful first experiences with new equipment.

Important Information

A veterinary referral is not required to book this session.

However, this session is not appropriate for dogs with active injuries, lameness, pain, or medical conditions that require rehabilitation planning. Dogs needing therapeutic exercise must first undergo an initial assessment so that a safe, individualized program can be developed.

If a dog presents with an undisclosed injury or condition that makes participation unsafe, the session will not proceed. In these cases, the full session fee will still apply. Safety is not optional, and equipment exposure without proper assessment can place dogs at risk.

Our priority is to protect your dog’s physical wellbeing while building confidence in a structured and responsible way.

Who Is This For?

  • Young puppies seeking a controlled, novel training environment

  • Breeders with litters as young as 8 weeks looking to provide a safe experience before puppies leave for their new homes

  • Sport prospects building foundational skills

  • Sensitive or cautious dogs

  • Owners who want guidance on safely introducing equipment

Learn to Swim

Our Learn to Swim Program includes 4 sessions, during which most dogs make remarkable progress in building confidence and mastering swimming skills.

For most dogs, we highly recommend booking all 4 sessions on a weekly basis as it increases success. By the end of the fourth visit, most dogs have learned the joy of swimming but also have a strong foundation for water safety.

For puppies under 4 months of age, book your first session as early as you can, and keep the remaining 3 sessions until after your pup turns 4 months old.
